Forgotten Island (2026)

"Forgotten Island" is an upcoming 2026 American animated adventure-comedy film from DreamWorks Animation. Directed and written by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, known for their work on "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish". Produced by Mark Swift.

The story takes place in the 1990s in the Philippines. Two childhood best friends, Jo (voiced by H.E.R.) and Raissa (voiced by Liza Soberano), find themselves on the brink of separation after graduation — their life paths are about to diverge. While celebrating their last night together, they accidentally discover a mysterious portal that transports them to the fantastical world of Nakali — a forgotten island filled with magical and mythological creatures from Philippine folklore.

On the island, both friends and foes await them. Together with a friendly but clumsy werewolf-dog Ro (voiced by Dave Franco) and a small but brave team of companions, Jo and Raissa must confront the Dreaded Manananggal (voiced by the legendary Lea Salonga) — the island's most terrifying creature. When they learn that the price of returning home is the memories of their entire friendship, the heroes race to find a way to leave the island before they forget each other forever.

The film combines a vibrant visual style inspired by hand-drawn animation and painterly textures with a deeply emotional story about friendship, memory, and growing up. The music is composed by Filipino-American composer Nathan Matthew David.
