Shrek 2 (2004)

"Shrek 2" is a 2004 American animated fantasy comedy film produced by DreamWorks Animation. It is the sequel to the cult animated film "Shrek" (2001) and the second installment in the "Shrek" franchise. The film is based on the children's book "Shrek!" (1990) by William Steig.

Plot

After their honeymoon, Shrek and Fiona receive an invitation from Fiona's parents — King Harold and Queen Lillian — to visit their kingdom of Far Far Away. The parents do not know that their daughter has married an ogre and now has the appearance of an ogre herself. During the visit, a conflict arises: King Harold, instigated by the Fairy Godmother, tries to get rid of Shrek with the help of a hired assassin — Puss in Boots. However, the Cat becomes Shrek's friend. Meanwhile, the Fairy Godmother plans to marry her son, Prince Charming, to Fiona in order to seize the throne. Shrek drinks a magic potion that turns him into a human, but for a permanent effect, a true love's kiss is needed before midnight. The film is full of humor, parodies of fairy tales and pop culture, as well as touching moments about self-acceptance and true love.
