Snow Bear (2025)

Overview

"Snow Bear" is an 11-minute American animated short film from 2025, created by director, screenwriter, and animator Aaron Blaise. The film, entirely hand-drawn in traditional 2D technique, tells a wordless, touching story of a lonely polar bear wandering the vast Arctic expanses. In this silence and beauty, he creates an imaginary friend out of snow, and later meets another bear with whom he shares loneliness and finds a true connection. The film touches on themes of loneliness, imagination, loss, recovery, and the need for closeness, while delicately hinting at climate change through melting snow. The film participated in numerous international festivals, including Annecy, Tribeca, and Zagreb, where it won awards, and was also nominated for an Annie Award and shortlisted for the 98th Academy Awards.
