1000 Words (original title: A Thousand Words) is a 2012 American comedy-drama directed by Brian Robbins. The lead role is played by Eddie Murphy.

Plot

Jack McCall (Eddie Murphy) is a literary agent who always talks a lot, often without thinking about the consequences. One day he meets a mysterious guru (Cliff Curtis), who "blesses" him with a banyan tree. Jack discovers that the tree is connected to his life: every word he speaks causes a leaf to fall from the tree. When all the leaves fall, Jack will die. Now he must learn to control his talkativeness and find a way to save himself, using only the 1000 words he has left.

Production
