Synopsis
Overview
"Eddington" is a modern Western with elements of comedy and satire, set in May 2020 in the eponymous fictional town in New Mexico. During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, the confrontation between local sheriff Joe (Joaquin Phoenix) and the mayor (Pedro Pascal) escalates into an explosive conflict that splits the community. The sheriff tries to reconnect with his depressed wife Louise (Emma Stone), who becomes increasingly fascinated by the charismatic conspiracy theorist Vernon (Austin Butler). The film explores collective madness, fears, and the absurdity of isolation, mocking the societal moods of that period.
