Synopsis
Overview
"F1" is a 2025 sports drama directed by Joseph Kosinski, produced by Apple Original Films in cooperation with Warner Bros., which served as its theatrical distributor. Brad Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, a former Formula 1 driver who returns to the racing world. Damson Idris plays Joshua Pearce, Javier Bardem plays Ruben Cervantes, and Kerry Condon plays Kate McKenna. The film was produced by seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, which ensured the authenticity of the racing scenes.
The film was released in theaters worldwide in June 2025 and became the highest-grossing sports film of all time, earning over 600 million dollars at the global box office. In December 2025, it made its global streaming debut. In February 2026, Apple and Formula 1 leadership hinted at a possible continuation — the question of a sequel remains open but is being discussed. This film is not part of a franchise, so no series chronology has been established yet.
