Synopsis
Overview
"Remain" is a romantic thriller directed by M. Night Shyamalan, based on the novel of the same name, which Shyamalan co-wrote with Nicholas Sparks. The lead roles are played by Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor. The film is produced by Shyamalan and Ashwin Rajan through Blinding Edge Pictures, with Warner Bros. as distributor.
The film was originally scheduled for release on October 23, 2026, but the release was moved, and the premiere is now set for February 5, 2027 in the US. Filming took place in Providence, Rhode Island. Shyamalan noted that "Remain" showed the best test scores of his films, and he believes it could be one of his best works. The film's teaser trailer appeared in September 2026.
Since the film has not yet been released, the detailed plot is officially kept secret — in Shyamalan's style, audiences can expect a blend of romantic drama with thriller intrigue and, presumably, his signature plot twist.
