Yes Man (2008)

"Yes Man" is a 2008 romantic comedy directed by Peyton Reed, based on the memoir of the same name by British humorist Danny Wallace. The screenplay was written by Nicholas Stoller, Jarrad Paul, and Christopher Tafton. The lead role is played by Jim Carrey, who portrays Carl Allen — a man stuck in a rut who constantly declines any offers. After attending a self-help seminar, he makes a vow to say "yes" to absolutely everything, leading to a series of comedic, unexpected, and life-affirming situations.

Plot

Carl Allen is a bank loan officer who, after his divorce, avoids social life and responds "no" to any invitations. By chance, he ends up at a "Yes!" program, where founder Terrence convinces him to make a pact: from now on, Carl must say "yes" to every opportunity life presents. At first, this leads to absurd situations — he agrees to give a homeless man a ride, learn Korean, bungee jump off a bridge — but eventually his life changes: he gets a promotion at work, finds new friends, and meets a girl named Allison (Zooey Deschanel), who plays in a quirky band and leads a free-spirited lifestyle. However, excessive "yes" begins to create problems, and Carl realizes that the true essence of the pact is not mindless agreement, but a willingness to open up to new experiences.
